The Politically Incorrect Show - 29/03/2001

[Music - Die Fledermaus]

Good afternoon, Kaya Oraaa & welcome to the Politically Incorrect Show on the free speech network, Radio Pacific, for Thursday March 29, proudly sponsored by Neanderton Nicotine Ltd., the show that says bugger the politicians & bureaucrats & all the other bossyboot busybodies who try to run our lives with our money; that stands tall for free enterprise, achievement, profit, & excellence, against the state-worshippers in our midst; that stands above all for the most sacred thing in the universe, the liberty of the human individual.

[Music up, music down!]

Yesterday we discussed the absence of any effective parliamentary opposition to the current government. Not one caller rang to defend the performance of National or ACT. Yet the pickings for opposition parties have surely never been richer - the running down of our defence & police forces, the stoking of the apartheid gravy-train, the extending of Big Brother's tentacles, the sucking up to bludgers going on under this socialist government fair scream for some fierce, principled opposition. One caller asked, "What's Peter Cresswell doing?" referring to the leader of Libertarianz. Peter is currently rating 65% on the vote.co.nz web site's preferred Prime Minister poll, for one thing. For another, he has just announced his candidacy for the Coromandel electorate. His press release came out too late for yesterday's programme, but here it is now:

The first salvo in his bid to oust Jeanette Fitzsimons from the Coromandel seat is being fired by Libertarianz leader Peter Cresswell on Saturday night in Thames. "Coromandel and the Hauraki Plains deserve better representation than the luddite authoritarianism Fitzsimons represents," he says.

"It needs to be said," he says, "that almost without exception she stands for everything backward, anti-industrial, and flat wrong - and no one else appears willing to confront that. Her opposition to a new Kopu Bridge; her silence over the delays to the exciting Whitianga Waterways project; her support for the gutting of New Zealandšs defence forces; and her continuing campaign to raise petrol prices by levying carbon taxes at the petrol pump--all indicate her view that initiative and enterprise be squashed."

Peter says by contrast his party would "shred the Resource Management Act, which is an affront to every property owner; scrap the Treaty of Waitangi, which is promoting rampant apartheid; and agitate for government to do its proper job - defending the country. Our aim is to get politicians out of your way, and out of your pocket, so you can be free to get on with your own life unimpeded."

He begins his campaign to oust Fitzsimons with a meeting at the Thames Junior Rugby Rooms this Saturday 31st, at 7pm, a venue he says was chosen to be close enough to Jeanettešs eco-residence to allow her to join the fun!

So now you know what Peter Cresswell is doing. He's raising a voice of fierce & principled opposition to the policies of this government. A shame no one in Parliament is doing the same - but the voters in Coromandel now have the opportunity to rectify that.
