The Politically Incorrect Show - 01/05/2001

[Music - Die Fledermaus]

Good afternoon, Kaya Oraaa & welcome to the Politically Incorrect Show on the free speech network, Radio Pacific, for Tuesday May 1, proudly sponsored by Neanderton Nicotine Ltd., the show that says bugger the politicians & bureaucrats & all the other bossyboot busybodies who try to run our lives with our money; that stands tall for free enterprise, achievement, profit, & excellence, against the state-worshippers in our midst; that stands above all for the most sacred thing in the universe, the liberty of the human individual.

[Music up, music down!]

May Day. Traditionally a day set aside to honour workers. All around the country today, & all around the world tomorrow - May 1 elsewhere - assorted Marxists, fascists, anarchists, greenies & other varieties of losers, no-hopers & life-haters will be taking advantage of the freedom they don't believe in to stage demonstrations against the system that gives them that freedom: capitalism. So I want instead to set the day aside to honour & thank the hardest workers of all, they who create the workers' jobs: the capitalists.

I want to thank & honour them, not for creating the jobs, not for making my life & the lives of billions much more enjoyable, not for what they do for others, incalculable though that is - I want to thank & honour them for having the guts & self-esteem to do something for themselves. I want to do so by quoting from the courtroom speech of industrialist Hank Rearden in Atlas Shrugged, on trial for illegally selling a metal alloy that he had created & which had then been placed under government control:

"I work for nothing but my own profit - which I make by selling a product they need to men who are willing & able to buy it. I do not produce it for their benefit at the expense of mine, & they do not buy it for my benefit at the expense of theirs; I do not sacrifice my interests to them nor do they sacrifice theirs to me; we deal as equals by mutual consent to mutual advantage - & I am proud of every penny I have earned in this manner. I am rich & I am proud of every penny I own. I have made my money by my own effort, in free exchange & through the voluntary consent of every man I dealt with - the voluntary consent of those who employed me when I started, the voluntary consent of those who work for me now, the voluntary consent of those who buy my product ...

"If it were true that men could achieve their good by means of turning some men into sacrificial animals, & I were asked to immolate myself for the sake of creatures who wanted to survive at the price of my blood; if I were asked to serve the interests of society apart from, above & against my own - I would refuse. I would reject it as the most contemptible evil. I would fight it with every power I possess. I would fight the whole of mankind. If one minute were all I could last before I was murdered, I would fight in the full confidence of the justice of my battle & of a living being's right to exist. Let there be no misunderstanding about me. If it is now the belief of my fellow men, who call themselves the public, that their good requires victims, then I say: The public good be damned, I will have no part of it."

To the spirit & achievements of all the real-life Hank Reardens the world over, the Free Radical Award.
