The Politically Incorrect Show - 02/08/1999

Music - Die Fledermaus

Good afternoon, Kaya Oraaa & welcome to the Politically Incorrect Show on the free speech network, Radio Pacific, for Monday August 2, proudly sponsored by Tuariki Tobacco Ltd, the show that says bugger the politicians & bureaucrats & all the other bossyboot busybodies who try to run our lives with our money; that stands tall for free enterprise, achievement, profit, & excellence, against the state-worshippers in our midst; that stands above all for the most sacred thing in the universe, the liberty of the human individual.

Music up, music down!

Friday night, Counties Racecourse, Pukekohe. The Politically Incorrect Libertarianz vs the Nanny State parties - Alliance Retards, New Zealand Last, Hard Labour, National Socialist, the Association of Compulsion-Touters - as organised by Adrian Chisholm's new group, ABC : Abolish Bureaucratic Crimes. The topic - individual liberty & property rights.

The Nanny State parties each had seven minutes before dinner. The Alliance divided its time between two amply-proportioned ladies who said kia ora a lot & gave us a potted history of the churches in Pukekohe. (One of these Alliance ladies later became hysterical & had to be shot by the racecourse veterinarian.) The others came on & muttered about individual liberty & property rights needing to be secondary to our duties to society. So unanimous were they about that we wondered what they were left to disagree on that could possibly be important. But by the time they'd finished droning - in fact, well before it - no one cared that much. They were very boring, & everyone else was very hungry.

So it was left to the Libertarianz leader to inject some reason & some passion into the evening - after dinner. I may not be the most non-partisan of commentators, but I think he performed that task quite well, even if he does say so himself. He spoke briefly of what rights consisted of & how they were derived. He pointed out that democracy - the counting of heads regardless of their content - is inimical to individual liberty because people are empowered to vote themselves a bogus right to anything they feel like demanding & demagogue politicians are prepared to promise them. He vividly documented the appalling advance of tyranny & retreat of liberty under this National Socialist Government. When he stated that Sir Bubonic Birch deserved, not a knighthood, but jail, he was wildly applauded.

Finally the Nanny State parties returned to the podium to field questions from the audience. Picking up on "National Socialist," a questioner used the abbreviated version, "Nazi," when describing the current government. Nazi MP Warren Kydd said he wasn't going to sit there & be called a Nazi, & walked out. Hooch Helen asked a question of Sir Roger Douglas about individual liberty & property rights (not unnaturally, in the circumstances). Sir Roger had been lurking in the background, not wanting, he had been overheard to say, to be photographed in front of "that thing" - "that thing" being the statue of liberty that we Libz had placed in the speakers' area. But forward he then bounced & started reading a prepared speech beginning, "If we can provide the right frameworks so that for each dollar the government spends ..." whereupon various people groaned & loudly reminded Sir Roger whose dollar it was in the first place & Hooch Helen reminded him of her question. Alas poor Hooch, it was to remain unanswered. One of Sir Roger's fellow-Compulsion-Touters averred, in response to another question, that if something was good for us then the government should make it compulsory. Quite logical for a Compulsion-Touter if you think about it, & it did give the audience a superb opportunity to see the truth of what the Libz leader had said earlier & of which he quickly reminded them now - "all of these parties think they own us." After some further confirmation of that from those candidates who hadn't walked out, Sir Roger came back to the microphone, described Libertarianz as "a pain in the arse" - and hobbled out. Before the horse vet had a chance to give him something for it.

Of one thing the current & aspiring politicians for the Nanny State parties were left in no doubt - most people at that meeting were fed up with their dictatorial arrogance. They & thousands more across the country are fed up with politics as it is. They are not demanding handouts - they just want their right to be left alone respected, & are now at last prepared to defend that right. They know their fathers & grandfathers didn't fight Hitler just to have Nazism imposed on us by our own politicians by a process of stealth & gradualism. The rallying cry is starting to crescendo over the mountains & valleys, from home & from workplace, in print & and on air: enough is enough. New Freeland is beckoning.
